袁可嘉（1921—-2008），浙江慈溪人。民盟成員，九葉派著名詩人、翻譯家。1946年畢業于西南聯合大學外國語文系英國語言文學專業。歷任北京大學西語系助教，中共中央宣傳部毛澤東選集英譯室翻譯，外文出版社翻譯，中國社會科學院外國文學研究所助理研究員、副研究員，社科院研究生院教授、博士生導師。全國文學翻譯工作者協會理事。1941年開始發表作品。1962年加入中國作家協會。著有專著《西方現代派文學概論》、《現代派論英美詩論》、《論新詩現代化》、《半個世紀的腳印——袁可嘉文選》，主編《歐美現代十大流派詩選》、《現代主義文學研究》等。
